Christina Milian Dropped

There are no prizes in the entertainment industry for those who just manage to slip under the radar as multi-talented singer/ actress/ songwriter and producer Christina Milian has just found out. The 24-year-old American songstress was recently dropped from her record label – Island/ Def Jam - just three weeks after her third album So Amazin’ failed to achieve successful opening sales in the US. Milian, who achieved success with her singles AM to PM, Dip It Low and her latest offering Say I, has never managed to have any of her albums certified gold (for sales of more than 500 000 copies), even though her hit singles have heated up dance floors across the globe. However, despite lacklustre US sales, Christina has achieved a lot of success in the UK, Europe and Japan

Christina is considered one of the hottest young talents, but poor marketing has failed to allow her the opportunity to experience the same success garnered by some of her less-talented peers.
In addition for being nominated for the Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy, Milian’s second album It’s About Time spawned the smash hit Dip It Low, which went top ten in the US and UK and was nominated for a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy. She also penned the song Play, which became a huge hit for Jennifer Lopez. Milian has also been given encouraging reviews for her roles in the hit movies Torque, Be Cool and the new movie out later this year called Pulse.

Rumours are circulating that she refused to take direction from her former-record boss L.A. Reid and record the song, which later became a Rihanna’s latest hit, SOS (Rescue Me), but I think Say I was pretty hot and just lacked promotion. I feel really sorry for her; she is really talented and has great potential – not to mention the fact that she is easy on the eye. Hopefully she will get a new deal soon and finally get the promotion she deserves. In the mean time be sure to pick up a copy of her album So Amazin’ it has received some critical acclaim and her new movie Pulse is out later this year.
